I recently read articles describing Apple’s need to bring out a “real” video iPod. A full screen version that will allow better viewing. However nice this may turn out to be, the fact is that it isn’t going to help Apple in the long run. What most people are going to want, likely demand, in the future is an iPod phone. And Apple better hurry, because it’s competitors are already bringing them out. Personally, I don’t want to spend another $400 on a video iPod, even if the screen is a little bigger. I will, though, spend my money on a good iPod phone, not a razr, but a phone that has the ipod minimalist design and quality. And so will a lot of people not willing to part with a few hundred dollars on a mp3 player, but will gladly spend it on a good quality phone that also holds a few thousand songs. Just look a the people willing to buy the expensive smart phones. Let’s hope that Apple’s next announcement is something that people really want to use.
